DO:

Celebrate Valentine’s Day in some way. Whether a significant other is in the picture or not, love can be expressed in a variety of ways to different kinds of people.

Give chocolate. Although you may think this can cause weight gain, it can also contribute to a healthy heart!

Be honest. No one wants a fake Valentine!

Brush your teeth. Valentine’s Day is about pleasant things. Please, make sure your breath is one of those things.

Buy the big teddy bear. Yes. You know there’s no way around it. Literally, it’s just too big.

Hug someone. Hugs can be healing. A person may seem happy on the outside, but just one of your hugs could be all the love they feel this Valentine’s Day. So don’t hesitate to give a hug!

Rejoice for others. If you don’t have a significant other, still be happy for those that do. This can be your way of showing love this Valentine’s Day!

DON’T:

Forget that it’s Valentine’s Day. Something worse than getting a bad gift for a girlfriend or boyfriend is forgetting entirely that it is Valentine’s Day. Use this day to do something special for your significant other.

Repeat. If you are in a relationship, don’t do what you did last year for your girlfriend or boyfriend. It will show him or her that you don’t care or don’t care enough.

Ask a girl out over text or email. Don’t be shy. Face to face communication means more. It shows that you really care about her and that you are serious.

Dump someone on Valentine’s Day. There really isn’t much more to say about this one.

Contact your ex. Your ex most likely doesn’t want to hear from you. Be nice. Don’t give someone something they don’t want for Valentine’s Day.

Overspend. Everyone knows most college students are broke. It’s okay. They’ll understand.

Take it too seriously. Yes, Valentine’s Day is a special day. But it’s just another day. Don’t expect to receive so much, and don’t assume that you need to give so much. Every day is a new day to give and receive.
