A Weekend of Big Wins on Homecoming

Friday October 25th and Saturday October 26 were OKWU’s annual homecoming activities. This weekend was jam packed with athletic events for the alumni and the students to participate in, but due to the weather conditions that weekend, some of the events were rescheduled. The OKWU baseball alumni game that was scheduled for Saturday the 26 has been moved to April 2020. Other than that scheduling change, there were many of the OKWU athletic teams representing our school that weekend such as golf, soccer, volleyball, and basketball.

On Friday, November 25th, the Oklahoma Wesleyan Men’s Golf Team hosted an Alumni Golf Scramble, giving current and former students the chance to compete, raising money for the OKWU Golf Program. Alumni from all over the country participated in the scramble, with Nick and Dan Waite coming from New York! OKWU Head Coach Scott Seymour called the event “a fun day for alumni and a fun day on the golf course.” The winner of the scramble were alumni TJ Dickinson, alumni Dalton Higgins, Gary Dickinson, and Senior Jack Pritchard!

Our mens and women’s soccer teams were scheduled to have their senior night vs. York College Sat. Oct. 26 with the women’s game at 1:00 and the men’s game at 3:30, but due to the rain the game got moved to a different location and only the women’s team celebrated their senior night. The women won their game 7-0 and the men won their game 2-0 The men have rescheduled their senior night for later on in the season.

During the soccer games, Volleyball had a home game as well. The lady eagles played their game at 2:00 in the main gym of the MSC where they lost vs. University of Saint Mary’s 0-3.

Both our mens and womens basketball teams had games that night as well. The women played KCC and they managed to win 91-39. The men won their game vs. Calvary 109-40.

Between the mens and womens basketball games, we had our annual homecoming ceremony where we announced the winners of the homecoming court and the winner of the second annual spirit award.
